Luise Oswald

I’m currently studying Fine Arts at the University of the Arts in Berlin.
My photographic work focuses on close observation of the world around me. In my recent projects, I’ve been working with medium format using a Zeiss Ikon camera.
I manually decide how often to expose a single frame, which results in softly layered, painterly double or multiple exposures. All prints are analog and developed in our professional lab. In the large darkroom, I hang the paper on the wall and project the negatives at full size. I adjust the color manually with filters – so the images are created purely with light, not with printer ink. Because the final outcome depends on the chemistry of the bath and the exact positioning of the negative, each image is one of a kind.
