Elen Zannad

My art practice is based on the use of black lines, colours, textures, juxtapositions of forms, through oil painting, fresco, drawing. I represent elements such as animals, people, houses, and I currently work around unexpressive faces. I like to imitate the mistakes, the movements, recreate the way I wipe my brush in a tissue on my paintings, the texture of a pencil, or a marker, with oil paint. Really inspired by comics and drawings, I focus on black lines, how they overlap, how I can use them to frame a scene, and incorporate drawing into traditional oil painting. I work on wood, recycled materials, fresco, and experiment with other textures and elements such as silicone, pastes, curtain eyelets, keychains, screws, to try and add another dimension to the images I create.
